Morocco is full of palatial resorts, charming riads, and gorgeous natural landscapes perfect for hosting a wedding. The following slides present a few cities where we can organize your big day.
Casablanca embodies modern Morocco. It’s impossible to feel indifferent to this vibrant city. Be sure to take in its “towers”: the minaret of the Hassan II mosque, the El Hank lighthouse, and the Twin Center. Casablanca has a very rich architectural heritage, much of which remains to be explored; not to mention a stroll along the Boulevard de la Corniche for the beach-side atmosphere.
Nicknamed the Ochre City, Marrakech is an established destination for romantic getaways. The city’s charming alleyways, splendid colours and scents will awaken your senses to a delightful world where modern culture sits just on the other side of 11th century walls.
A Wedding in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains is an unforgettable experience. The beauty and diversity of the landscape is breathtaking. Its mix of berber villages, deep lush valleys and snow-capped mountains accounts for a splendid Alpine experience.
Tangier’s charms have inspired artists, writers and travelers from Henri Matisse to Tennessee Williams. With a beautiful bay overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar, Tangier offers the perfect backdrop to your Mediterranean wedding. The city features several world-class resorts, a beautiful art scene as well beaches you won’t soon forget!
Essaouira’s brilliant blue and white architecture, windswept beaches and easy-going charm provide the perfect scenery for an authentic Moroccan wedding. Behind the 18th century walls are artisan workshops, souks, and winding alleyways that embody the charms of an intimate venue straight out of the Arabian Nights’ fairy tale.
Before the wedding, the bride and her intimate friends meet for the traditional Hammam bath. Authentic black soap and purifying scrubs give rise to incredible scents of eucalyptus, honey and orange blossom. The cheering chants and relaxed atmosphere raise everyone’s spirits for the big day!
After the Hammam bath, the henna ceremony or "Henna" is held in the presence of family and friends. The bride’s hands are adorned with a traditional tattoo made of Henna and herbal essences. The symbolic virtues of henna in a Moroccan wedding is to bring health, prosperity and success to the newlyweds.
During the ceremony, the bride is assisted by "Neggafates" who are logistic experts in traditional weddings. The Neggafates’ expertise in traditional ceremonies, style and fashion enables them to help with traditional Moroccan dresses, jewelry, hair styling and even the lifting of the bride in the “Amariya”.
The “Amariya” is the traditional cushion table where the bride sits comfortably before she gets lifted by the Negaffates. Adorned with a traditional dress of ceremony, the bride is touring as to be seen and admired by the entire audience in a festive atmosphere full of sound and color.
Breakfast in bed is nice, but a Moroccan brunch with the wedding bunch can be a blissful experience! Traditionally, the “Sbouhi” or post-wedding Brunch brings together family and friends. Gifts and blessings are shared with the newlyweds as they make their way to their idyllic honeymoon.
The “Aissawa are known for their polyrhythmic spiritual music, which generally comprises songs accompanied by percussion and dance. Aissawa’s presence in weddings is a symbol of good luck and prosperity, as the group brings together traditional music traditions and dances to elevate the participants to a state of joyful excitement.
Moroccan weddings are known for the variety of their exotic dishes and authentic ingredients. Traditionally, wedding meals include a pastilla (chicken puff pastry with almonds, sugar and cinnamon), a Mashwi (baby lamb), a Tajine (meat with prunes and almonds), or Couscous. Moroccan pastries and cookies are also served with mint tea throughout the ceremony.
Gnawa music is a rich repertoire of African mystic songs and rhythms. Its well preserved heritage combines ritual poetry with traditional music and dancing. Jam with a local tribal band under the starry sky of the Sahara Desert or at Jemaa El Fna, Marrakech's Central square for a vibrant experience you’ll never forget.
